BACK FROM THE ABYSS: EPISODE THREE REVIEW – BEN PUSHES TOO FAR, NOAH'S NEXT MOVE

Creator: Liklik Media

Duration: 5mins

Release Date: Sunday October 4th, 2026

Cast: Hane Kokoha, Rima Ravusiro, Eldan Toti, Rubu Jimmy

The cracks get bigger in Miri (Hane Kokoha) and Ben’s (Rima Ravusiro) relationship as he gets more controlling, demanding to know who she’s interacting with. Noah’s (Eldan Toti) is seriously contemplating Joe’s gambling offer.

The episode’s lighting for indoor night scenes is one of its most noticeable weaknesses. Scenes are severely underexposed, leaving facial features, expressions, and important details in the surrounding environment difficult to see. The heavy blue color cast further affects visuals, washing out natural skin tones making the scenes feel artificially bleak rather than moody. Overall, the lighting weakens the visual quality of the episode, making the night scenes feel more murky than full of character.

Kori’s (Rubu Jimmy) introduction to the series doesn’t make much of an impact as there is no clear motivation established – we only know him as Lani and Noah’s friend. Questions remain – where was Kori going before stopping for a visit? Was his visit intentional or did he just happen to pass by? Why did he specifically choose to see Noah and Lani, and, most importantly, what does he want? These unanswered questions could create intrigue, but instead, they make his introduction feel incomplete.

On the plus side, Ravuriso’s portrayal of the emotionally abusive Ben slowly becomes increasingly apparent as he progresses from making passive-aggressive comments to being outright controlling and possessive. The gradual progression makes his toxicity feel more believable rather than immediately overstated.

Additionally, we get to see more of Miri’s personality outside of her domestic setting giving the character more depth and allowing us to better understand who she is beyond her relationship with Ben. This broader look at Miri is one of the episode’s stronger character developments.

Final Verdict:

This episode strengthens Miri and Ben’s characterizations, but Kori’s underdeveloped introduction and lighting flaws is a let-down making this a mixed but still worthwhile episode.
