Communities impacted by Cyclone Maila across Papua New Guinea’s coastal and island regions will receive immediate communication support from Digicel PNG Limited, with the company providing 20 minutes of complimentary call time to customers in affected areas.
The initiative is aimed at helping individuals stay connected with family members, access emergency services, and coordinate response and recovery efforts during this period.
Digicel PNG Chief Executive Officer, Tarik Boudiaf, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to ensuring reliable communication during times of emergency.
“Maintaining connectivity during critical situations is essential. Our priority is to ensure that our customers are able to reach their families, emergency responders, and support networks when it matters most,” Mr. Boudiaf said.
Digicel PNG’s technical and network teams are actively monitoring system performance across affected regions and have implemented precautionary measures to protect key infrastructure, including mobile network sites in vulnerable coastal and island areas.
